Description

This lot consists of 39 rounds of collectible centerfire rifle ammunition across two partial two-piece cardboard boxes. The first group comprises ammunition by the Remington Arms-Union Metallic Cartridge Company, tailored for .32-40 caliber Winchester, Marlin, and Savage rifles. These rounds are loaded with 165-grain soft point bullets. Key markings include the manufacturer designation Remington UMC and the caliber markings 32-40 Winchester Mar. & Sav. on the cartridge label, while the case headstamps are transcribed verbatim as REM-UMC 32-40. The second group, produced by the Winchester Repeating Arms Company, is chambered for the .30 Winchester Model 1894, or .30-30 Winchester. These rounds feature 170-grain metal patched soft point bullets propelled by smokeless powder. Primary label markings include .30 Winchester Model 1894 Soft Point, Smokeless Powder, and Pat. June 28, 1910, with headstamps marked .30 W.C.F. and W.R.A. CO. The total quantity of rounds included in this lot is 39.

Condition report:

The brass cartridge cases exhibit a naturally darkened patina with occasional surface oxidation and spotting. The lead projectiles show a dull, oxidized finish. The cardboard boxes show evidence of heavy shelf wear including edge fraying, surface soiling, and tears to the paper labels; specifically, the Remington box lid is missing an end flap and the Winchester box label shows significant material loss. The ammunition appears to be in live condition, though we have not function-tested these rounds and they are sold as historical collectibles only.
