Description
This lot consists of 179 rounds of .32 Smith & Wesson Long centerfire smokeless ammunition distributed among three cardboard boxes manufactured by Winchester and Remington Arms Company, Inc. The collection features 98 grain lead bullets with varied case finishes. The Winchester box contains cartridges with brass cases featuring headstamps marked W.R.A. Co. 32 S.&W. L. and is labeled as Staynless and non-mercuric. One Remington box, labeled as Kleanbore, contains nickel-plated cartridges with headstamps reading REM-UMC 32 S&WL. The second Remington box, which includes the DuPont logo, contains brass-cased cartridges also bearing the REM-UMC 32 S&WL headstamp. These rounds were intended for use in revolvers such as the Smith & Wesson, Colt New Police, and Harrington & Richardson models. The 179 rounds are presented as partial fills within the three original containers, including one Winchester box and two Remington boxes, one of which contains protective white cotton filler.
Condition report:
The ammunition remains in original used condition with visible signs of aging. The lead bullets exhibit varying degrees of oxidation characterized by a white powdery coating. The brass and nickel-plated cases show surface tarnishing and minor discoloration. The primers appear to be original and the cartridges are considered live ammunition. The cardboard boxes show significant shelf wear, including frayed corners, creases, small tears, and edge separation. The labels remain mostly legible despite the surface wear and age-related fading.
