Description
This Winchester Model 52D is a dedicated single-shot bolt-action target rifle chambered for the .22 Long Rifle cartridge, a model renowned for its exceptional accuracy in competitive rimfire shooting. The rifle features a 28-inch heavy target barrel finished in factory bluing, mounted with two scope mounting blocks. The blued receiver is a single-shot action with a polished bolt and is similarly equipped with mounting blocks for optics. The firearm is mounted in a walnut target stock with a semi-pistol grip, a flat-bottomed forend, and an integrated accessory rail on the underside. Verbatim markings on the barrel include -WINCHESTER- MODEL 52-22 L. RIFLE- and -TRADE MARK- -MADE IN U.S.A.- WINCHESTER PROOF STEEL- with a circled WP proof mark. The receiver ring is marked WINCHESTER TRADE MARK and the left side of the receiver displays the serial number 117384 D, a circled WP proof, and a U.S. stamp suggesting government marksmanship or military training provenance. The rifle is fitted with a black ribbed buttplate embossed with the WINCHESTER name. Included with this lot is an aluminum hand stop with a sling swivel that has Win 52D written in red ink; however, this accessory does not currently seem to fit correctly into the track of the forend accessory rail. Please note that this rifle is missing its front and rear iron sights, although the mounting bases remain attached. Note – All firearms require a federal 4473 background check.
Condition report:
The rifle is in good overall condition, retaining approximately 90% of its original factory blued finish with some thinning visible at the muzzle and on the high points of the receiver and bolt handle. The walnut stock shows various scattered handling marks, light dings, and surface scratches consistent with standard competition use but remains structurally sound. The bore is bright with sharp and well-defined rifling. The bolt action appears to function smoothly, and the trigger pull is crisp, though the firearm has not been function-tested with live ammunition. The accessory hand stop shows light wear and includes handwritten ink markings on the side.
