Description
This lot consists of 89 rounds of vintage centerfire rifle ammunition across five boxes from manufacturers including Winchester, Federal, and Western. The collection includes a box of Winchester Super-Speed .225 Winchester containing 20 rounds, with markings indicating item code W2251 and 55 grain pointed soft point bullets; the headstamps are marked verbatim W-W SUPER 225 WIN. A second Winchester box holds 20 rounds of .32-40 Winchester ammunition, item code W3240, featuring 165 grain soft point bullets and headstamps reading W.R.A. CO. 32-40. The grouping includes 19 rounds of .32-20 Winchester ammunition in a box marked W32201 with 100 grain lead bullets and W-W 32-20 WIN headstamps. A Federal box contains 20 rounds of .243 Winchester, labeled as No. 243A with 80 grain soft point bullets, featuring W-W 243 WIN headstamps and stored in red plastic carriers. The final box is a Western Super-X container for .220 Swift, item code 220S, containing 10 rounds with W-W 220 SWIFT headstamps. This Western box is notably marked with extensive handwritten load data, including notations for 39.5 grains of 4895 powder, 53 grain Hornady bullets, and a CAST LOADS ONLY warning, indicating these are hand-loaded cartridges rather than factory original loads.
Condition report:
The cardboard boxes show varying degrees of shelf wear, including edge fraying, scuffing, and minor tearing consistent with age and storage. The ammunition condition is mixed; the .225 Winchester and .32-40 rounds appear generally clean with minor tarnishing to the brass. The .243 Winchester rounds in the Federal box exhibit significant white oxidation and corrosion on the casings. The .32-20 lead projectiles show some oxidation. The hand-loaded .220 Swift rounds show minor tarnishing at the case shoulders. All ammunition is sold as-is for collection purposes and should be inspected by a qualified professional before any attempt to fire.
