Description
This lot consists of a total of 40 rounds of .30-30 Winchester centerfire ammunition housed in two period-appropriate boxes. The first box is a Remington Kleanbore Express containing 20 cartridges and is marked Remington KLEANBORE 30-30 WINCHESTER Express, 170 GRAIN SOFT POINT CORE-LOKT BULLET, 20 CENTER FIRE SMOKELESS CARTRIDGES, and catalog number 1430. The second box is a Peters High Velocity containing 20 cartridges and is marked Peters HIGH VELOCITY 30-30 WINCHESTER, 170 GR. INNER-BELTED SOFT POINT BULLET, and 20 CENTER FIRE SMOKELESS CARTRIDGES. Both boxes prominently feature the red DuPont logo. A visual inspection of the ammunition reveals a variety of headstamps across both boxes, including REM-UMC 30-30, PETERS 30-30, SUPER SPEED 30-30 WIN, and SUPER-X 30-30 WIN. The brass cartridges are loaded with lead-tipped soft point projectiles designed for hunting applications in the .30-30 Winchester chambering.
Condition report:
The ammunition is in varied condition, with the brass cases exhibiting a dull patina and some surface oxidation and the lead-tipped projectiles showing darkening and moderate oxidation consistent with age. Both cardboard boxes show significant shelf wear, including frayed edges, corner loss, surface abrasions, and general discoloration. The cartridges appear to be live and remain in their original trays, although they have not been function-tested for reliability or safety.
