Description
This is a Winchester Model 290 semi-automatic rifle chambered for .22 Long or Long Rifle cartridges. The firearm is configured with a blued steel barrel and a full-length tubular magazine located beneath the barrel. The receiver features a black finish, and the bolt has an attractive engine-turned or jeweled finish. The furniture consists of a two-piece wooden stock and forend featuring pressed checkering in a repeating diamond motif. The rifle is equipped with an adjustable rear sporting sight and a hooded front sight post. A Winchester-branded black plastic buttplate is fitted to the rear of the stock. Verbatim markings on the left side of the barrel include — WINCHESTER ® 22 L. OR L.R. — MODEL — 290 and MADE IN NEW HAVEN, CONN. U.S.A. printed below. A proof mark is present on the top of the barrel near the receiver junction. The serial number B1248184 is clearly stamped on the underside of the receiver. Included with the lot is one green and gray knitted fabric gun sock for storage. Note – All firearms require a federal 4473 background check.
Condition report:
The rifle is in good used condition. The blued finish on the barrel and magazine tube shows some handling wear and scattered small areas of surface oxidation. the black finish on the receiver remains largely intact with minor thinning on the high edges. The wooden stock and forend are solid with several small dings, scratches, and impressions consistent with field use. The bore is bright with well-defined rifling. The action appears to function correctly, though we have not function-tested this firearm with live ammunition. The knitted gun sock shows light pilling and wear from use.
