Description
This lot comprises a group of four ammunition boxes containing a total of 110 live rounds and 29 empty nickel plated casings for reloading. The collection features one Western Cartridge Co. box labeled for 50 .32 S&W Long empty unprimed shells which currently holds 29 empty nickel-plated shell cases with headstamps marked WESTERN .32 S. & W.L. A second box of French military origin is labeled 32 CARTOUCHES de 7,65 L. pour pistolets and contains 32 rounds of 7.65mm Longue dated between 1950 and 1952. The third item is a Remington UMC Kleanbore box for 50 .32 S&W cartridges containing a full count of 50 brass-cased cartridges with 88-grain lead bullets and headstamps marked REM-UMC .32 S&W. Rounding out the lot is a Savage brand box for .32 S&W black powder cartridges originally designed for 50 rounds and currently containing 28 live cartridges with SAVAGE .32 S&W headstamps plus several white cleaning patches. Verbatim markings across the packaging include Western Cartridge Co. East Alton, Ill. U.S.A., Remington Arms Company, Inc. New York London, and Savage .32 S&W Black Powder.
Condition report:
The cardboard packaging exhibits varying levels of age-related distress including staining, fraying, and localized tearing. The Western box lid is notably stained with significant surface paper loss. The Remington box is in relatively good condition with expected edge wear and a clear Oilproof label. The Savage box is heavily worn with tape residue and a partially detached lid. Regarding the ammunition, the Remington and French rounds appear clean while the Savage cartridges exhibit oxidation on the lead bullets and darkening of the brass cases. The 29 empty nickel-plated casings show minor surface tarnish but remain viable for reloading purposes.
