Description
This lot comprises two three-die reloading sets chambered for the .38-40 Winchester caliber. The first set is a Lyman All-American pistol set contained in its original black textured box. The box lid is marked THE LYMAN GUN SIGHT CORPORATION MIDDLEFIELD, CONN. U.S.A. while the end label reads LYMAN A-A DIES 3-DIE PISTOL SET 38-40. The dies themselves are stamped LYMAN EXP DIE, 38-40 FL, and LYMAN SEATING DIE and the set is complete with an original instruction pamphlet and a small metal powder dipper. The second set is a Pacific Durachrome set housed in a blue plastic case. The lid is embossed with PACIFIC RELOADING DIES and the side label identifies the contents as PACIFIC DURACHROME DIES R 26 38-40. At least one die is stamped with the maker and caliber PACIFIC 38-40. Both sets utilize standard 7/8-14 threads compatible with most modern reloading presses.
Condition report:
Both die sets show signs of age and use consistent with vintage reloading equipment. The Lyman dies exhibit scattered surface oxidation on the die bodies and locking rings, and the black box shows minor shelf wear and staining. The Pacific dies show light surface grime and minor oxidation on the knurling, though the Durachrome finish remains largely intact. The blue plastic box has light scuffs but no cracks. All adjustment threads and locking rings appear to function correctly.
