Description
This lot consists of 50 rounds of Remington Arms Company Palma brand .22 Long Rifle rimfire ammunition. The cartridges are contained in an orange two-piece cardstock box and are loaded with Lesmok semi-smokeless powder. Each cartridge features a copper-washed rimfire case with a lead round-nose bullet and a stylized U headstamp on the base. The box exhibits extensive printed information and graphics, including a prominent red Remington UMC logo and an illustration of a pump-action repeating rifle on one side panel. Verbatim markings on the packaging include .22 LONG RIFLE PALMA, 50 R. F. CARTRIDGES, REMINGTON ARMS COMPANY INC., SUCCESSOR TO THE REMINGTON ARMS UNION METALLIC CARTRIDGE COMPANY INC., AMMUNITION AND FIRE ARMS, UMC BRIDGEPORT WORKS, BRIDGEPORT, CONN. U. S. A., and the code 54-P. S. Additional text on side panels states that these cartridges are exceptionally accurate for use in all standard single shot and repeating rifles and are adapted for all kinds of shooting where a high degree of accuracy is required. The underside of the box contains a guarantee for performance when used in properly constructed firearms from makers including Remington-UMC, Smith and Wesson, Colt, Winchester, Marlin, Savage, and Stevens.
Condition report:
The orange cardstock box displays moderate shelf wear characterized by fraying at the corners, edge compression, and light overall surface soiling, though the printed text and logos remain clear and legible. Internally, the 50 rounds show significant signs of age and environmental exposure; the lead bullets are heavily coated with white oxidation and surface corrosion. The copper-washed cases exhibit a dark, aged patina with scattered spots of verdigris. Pink cotton wadding is present within the box and shows some age-related discoloration. The ammunition appears to be live, although it is sold as a collectible item and we have not tested its functionality or safety.
