Description
This collection consists of a lot of 33 rounds of vintage rimfire ammunition primarily designed for Flobert-style gallery rifles or small-caliber bird guns. The assortment features a variety of cartridge constructions including blue-and-green marbled, blue-and-white checkered, and red paper-cased bodies secured to rimmed brass or copper bases. Technical configurations vary among the rounds, with some featuring star-crimped lead projectiles while others are configured as blanks or small-bore shot shells. Key markings visible on a brass casing include G E V E L O T and P A R I S, attributing part of the collection to the French firm Gevelot. The lot includes various lengths of paper-cased ammunition alongside all-metal cartridges and blanks showing the evolution of recreational small-arms munitions. Note – As an antique or black powder firearm, this item does not require a background check.
Condition report:
The ammunition is in aged condition, exhibiting significant signs of oxidation and a dark natural patina on the metal bases. Several of the paper casings show structural fatigue including cracking, fading, and fraying at the crimps and joints. Verdigris is present on some copper components. The projectiles and crimps appear undisturbed, though the lot is sold as collectible material only and its functionality is neither tested nor guaranteed.
