Description
This lot consists of a collection of 72 rounds of vintage .32-20 Winchester centerfire ammunition, presented in two original cardboard boxes from Winchester and Western. The ammunition includes a mixture of lead round nose and jacketed soft point projectiles, reflecting various production eras for this classic caliber. The collection features a notable variety of headstamps, transcribed verbatim as WESTERN 32-20 WIN, W.R.A. CO. SUPER SPEED 32-20, W.R.A. CO. 32-20 W.H.V., W.R.A. CO. 32-20 WIN, W.R.A. CO. 32-20, and W.R.A. CO. 32-C.L.M.R., the latter referencing the Colt Lightning Magazine Rifle. The cartridges are housed in a Winchester Staynless red and yellow box marked as non-mercuric, oilproof, and made in U.S.A., and a Western X brand yellow and red box. This assortment of specialized loads, including High Velocity and Super Speed variants, makes this lot a desirable acquisition for collectors of mid-century American ammunition manufacturing.
Condition report:
The ammunition is in overall fair to good vintage condition. The brass cases exhibit a natural aged patina with areas of surface tarnish and minor oxidation. The lead projectiles show varying degrees of white oxidation or bloom, common in lead ammunition of this age, while the jacketed bullets show light discoloration. The cardboard boxes show typical signs of age and storage, including edge wear, corner fraying, surface staining, and some fading of the printed colors. The cartridges appear to be live and original.
