Description
This Marlin Model 1893 is a lever-action rifle chambered in .30-30 Winchester. The firearm features a full-length octagonal barrel and a full-length magazine tube. The metal surfaces exhibit an original blued finish that has largely transitioned into a mottled grey and brown patina over time. The rifle is fitted with a smooth walnut straight-grip stock and matching forend, complemented by a crescent-shaped metal buttplate. It is equipped with traditional iron sights consisting of a rear buckhorn sight and a front blade sight. Key markings include the manufacturer and patent information on the top barrel flat reading MARLIN FIRE-ARMS CO. NEW-HAVEN.CT., U.S.A. and PATENTED OCT. 11. 1887. APRIL 2. 1889. AUGUST 1. 1893. The left barrel flat is marked SPECIAL SMOKELESS STEEL and the top of the barrel at the breech is stamped 30-30. The top of the receiver is marked MARLIN SAFETY and the upper tang is designated MODEL 1893. The serial number 379432 is clearly visible on the underside of the frame. Note – All firearms require a federal 4473 background check.
Condition report:
The metal surfaces show thinning of the blued finish with a predominant brownish-grey patina throughout the receiver and barrel. There are scattered areas of light surface oxidation and minor silvering on the barrel edges. The markings remain sharp. The walnut furniture is in good condition with various handling marks, shallow dings, and scratches consistent with age. A small hairline crack is visible on the underside of the forend near the receiver. The crescent buttplate shows thinning and light oxidation. The bore was not inspected, but the action appears to function smoothly; however, we have not function-tested this firearm.
