Description

This lot features 56 rounds of Remington Rocket .22 Short rimfire ammunition, distributed across two original vintage boxes. These 28-round “Chicklet” packs were a mid-20th century offering marketed for increased speed and power compared to standard cartridges. The boxes are constructed of red cardboard with a green horizontal band and a transparent viewing window. Key markings include the Remington brand name, the DU PONT oval logo, the Rocket model designation, and the 22 Short caliber. The boxes are also marked Non-Corrosive Kleanbore Priming and specify 28 Rim Fire Cartridges No. 1222 on the side panels. The reverse side provides a descriptive narrative stating that the ammunition should be used only in first class arms in good condition and identifies the manufacturer as Remington Arms Company, Inc. of Bridgeport, Connecticut. The cartridges consist of brass cases with lead projectiles.

Condition report:

The cardboard boxes exhibit signs of significant age and shelf wear, including blunted corners, surface scuffing, and edge fraying. The box on the right shows prominent tearing around the viewing window and has been reinforced with clear adhesive tape. The visible ammunition shows surface oxidation and darkening of the brass cases typical of vintage rimfire cartridges, though they appear to be in stable condition. The boxes are full and contain the stated quantity of 56 rounds.
