Description
This lot consists of a two-piece cardboard box containing 50 rounds of Winchester Repeating Arms Co. .38 caliber centerfire ammunition, manufactured expressly for the .38 Smith & Wesson revolver. The packaging features a green top label with a detailed illustration of a top-break revolver and prominent text specifying the contents as 50 solid head cartridges. Orange side labels indicate that these rounds are also adapted for Harrington & Richardson and Hopkins & Allen revolvers. The ammunition is comprised of brass casings and lead round-nose projectiles. Verbatim markings on the top label include WINCHESTER Trade Mark, .38 CALIBER CARTRIDGES, and CENTER FIRE, while the side labels specify .38 SMITH & WESSON. The interior of the lid contains a white instructional label for reloading that specifies the use of Winchester Improved Primer No. 1 1/2. Headstamps on the brass casings are embossed with the characters W.R.A. CO. .38 S.&W.

The ammunition appears to be live, with the brass cases exhibiting moderate tarnish and the lead projectiles showing visible white lead oxidation. The labels remain mostly legible despite surface abrasions and staining.
