Description
This lot consists of 100 rounds of vintage Winchester Staynless EZXS .22 Long Rifle match ammunition, presented in two original 50-round cardboard boxes. The cartridges are configured with lead projectiles and rimfire cases, originally designed for precision match target shooting. The packaging features a distinctive yellow, red, and blue graphic design with prominent markings. Key markings transcribed verbatim include the manufacturer WINCHESTER, the model STAYNLESS EZXS, and the caliber .22 LONG RIFLE MATCH CARTRIDGES SMOKELESS. The side and end panels are marked with MADE IN U.S.A. and WINCHESTER REPEATING ARMS CO., NEW HAVEN, CONN., U.S.A., along with the production code K 2339 R. The reverse of each box includes a detailed manufacturer statement and mentions U.S.A. PATENT 2,063,119. A visual inspection of the individual cartridges reveals that the majority possess the copper-colored cases with the Winchester H headstamp on the base, while one round in the second box is nickel-plated and bears a SUPER X headstamp.
Condition report:
The cardboard boxes exhibit significant age-related wear, including frayed edges, corner tears, and surface staining, though the printed graphics remain largely legible. The ammunition itself shows signs of oxidation on the lead projectiles, appearing as a dull gray or white surface buildup. The copper and brass cases show tarnishing and light surface corrosion consistent with vintage age. The cartridges appear to be live; however, they are being sold as collectibles, and their functionality or reliability for discharge is not guaranteed.
