Description
This lot consists of a collection of 60 rounds of vintage Remington Kleanbore ammunition in .32 Winchester (32-20) caliber, housed in two original boxes. The primary box, identified by code 4232, contains centerfire smokeless cartridges featuring 100-grain lead bullets and brass cases. Verbatim markings on this box include Remington Kleanbore 32 Winchester (32-20) 100 Grain Lead Bullet 50 Center Fire Smokeless Cartridges and the DuPont logo. Cartridge headstamps in this box are marked REM-UMC 32-20 WIN and REM-UMC 32 WCF. The second box, designated with code 4632, contains specialized high-pressure proof loads characterized by tinned silver-colored cases and copper-jacketed bullets with red-sealed tips. This box is wrapped in a prominent warning label reading DANGER! 50 High Pressure Proof Loads and specifies that these loads are to be used only by gun makers for proof testing guns and must be fired only from a distance with the shooter properly protected against injury. The label further states that a tinned case indicates a proof load. These proof loads were designed for industrial safety testing to verify firearm structural integrity and are sold here for historical and collector purposes.
Condition report:
Both ammunition boxes show significant vintage wear, including crushed corners, edge fraying, surface staining, and tears consistent with age. The proof load box is missing its original top flap and has a heavily discolored warning label. The brass-cased cartridges display a dark aged patina with visible oxidation and white lead bloom on the standard bullet noses. The tinned proof load cases exhibit surface dulling and minor oxidation on the copper jacketed tips. The cardboard structural integrity is fragile. All ammunition items appear to be live and unfired, though they are sold as collectible items only with no guarantee of ballistic performance or safety.
