Description
This Ithaca Model 500 is an over-under field shotgun chambered for 20 gauge shells with 3-inch chambers. Manufactured in Japan by SKB, the firearm features blued steel barrels and a blued receiver decorated with light scroll engraving on the side panels. The barrels are choked Full and Modified, as indicated by the stampings on the lug, and are equipped with a ventilated rib and a red fiber-optic front sight. The furniture consists of a checkered walnut stock and matching forend with a high-gloss finish. Key markings include the model designation MODEL 500 -20GA-3 CHAMBER-PROOF TESTED and the manufacturer mark ITHACA GUN CO., INC., ITHACA, N.Y. MADE IN JAPAN-ROTO-FORGED on the left side of the upper barrel, with CUSTOM CRAFTED FOR ITHACA BY SKB on the right side. The serial number Y195410 is located on the lower tang, while the number 550973 is stamped on the barrel lug. The shotgun is fitted with a single selective gold-plated trigger and a black textured buttplate embossed with the Ithaca-SKB logo. Note – All firearms require a federal 4473 background check.
Condition report:
The metal surfaces retain most of their original bluing with some minor surface wear and scattered light oxidation present along the exterior of the barrels. The bores are bright. The action appears to function correctly, though we have not function-tested this firearm with live ammunition. The checkered wood stock and forend are in good condition, showing some light handling marks and a small scuff on the right side of the forend. The gold plating on the trigger shows minimal wear.
