Description
This lot consists of a collection of 55 rounds of vintage Winchester ammunition chambered in .30 Government Model 1906, also known as .30-06 Springfield. The ammunition features 150-grain Pointed Full Patch full metal jacket bullets with brass cases and smokeless powder. The rounds are distributed among three original two-piece cardboard boxes from the Winchester Repeating Arms Company of New Haven, Connecticut. Each box is marked with the product code K3055C and indicates the contents are STAYNLESS non-corrosive smokeless cartridges. Label markings specify the ammunition is adapted to the U.S. Springfield Rifle Model 1906 and the Winchester Rifle Model 1895. Verbatim markings on the primary labels include .30 Government Model 1906 Pointed Full Patch—150 Gr. and WINCHESTER REPEATING ARMS CO., New Haven, Conn., U.S.A. The individual cartridges bear headstamps that read W.R.A. Co. .30 G. 1906.
Condition report:
The three cardboard boxes exhibit significant shelf wear, including staining, edge fraying, and some losses or tears to the red paper labels. One box lid is partially detached and shows evidence of old tape repairs. The 55 brass-cased cartridges show varying degrees of age-related tarnish, surface oxidation, and spots of green verdigris. The bullets show mild oxidation consistent with long-term storage. The primers appear intact, though we have not function-tested this vintage ammunition and it is sold as a collectible only.
