Description
This Marlin Model 1895S is a lever action rifle chambered in the powerful .45/70 Gov’t cartridge. The firearm features a deep blued finish on the receiver and barrel, complemented by a smooth walnut stock and forearm with a high-gloss finish. The barrel is equipped with an adjustable rear leaf sight and a hooded ramp front sight with a bead. Technical specifications include a straight-grip stock terminated by a brown rubber-like recoil pad embossed with the Marlin horse and rider logo and a receiver with an installed aftermarket offset hammer spur extension. Key markings include the model and caliber designation MOD. 1895S THE MARLIN FIREARMS CO.—CAL. 45/70 GOV’T. followed by —MADE IN NORTH HAVEN, CT. U.S.A.— MICRO-GROOVE BARREL. A visible (JM) proof mark is stamped on the left side of the barrel near the receiver junction. The serial number 18072728 is clearly transcribed on the upper tang. Note – All firearms require a federal 4473 background check.
Condition report:
The overall condition is very good, with the blued surfaces exhibiting only light signs of use and minor handling marks. The walnut furniture remains attractive, retaining a strong gloss with a few scattered small dings and shallow scuffs. The bore is bright with sharp rifling. The lever action appears to function correctly, though we have not function-tested this firearm.
