Lot 69:
Winchester Model 94 Lever Action Carbine .32 Winchester Special with 20 Inch Barrel 1948
Sold for: $1,000
Description
This is a Winchester Model 94 lever-action carbine chambered in .32 Winchester Special (.32 W.S.) equipped with a 20-inch barrel and a full-length tubular magazine. The firearm features a blued finish on the barrel and receiver that shows thinning and silvering on high edges consistent with field use and age. The rifle is fitted with a walnut straight-grip buttstock and a barrel-banded forend, with an aftermarket brown Pachmayr Gun Works rubber recoil pad installed on the butt. Sling swivel studs have been added to the underside of the buttstock and the magazine tube band. The sighting arrangement consists of a hooded ramp front sight and a standard adjustable buckhorn rear sight. Notable markings on the left side of the barrel include Made in New Haven, Conn. U.S. of America – Winchester – Model 94 – 32 W.S. – as well as – Winchester Proof Steel – and Trade Mark. Overlapping WP proof marks are clearly visible on the top of the barrel and the receiver ring. The serial number 1537987 is stamped on the underside of the receiver, indicating production in approximately 1948. Note – All firearms require a federal 4473 background check.
Condition report:
The original blued finish remains at approximately 65-70 percent, with the receiver exhibiting general thinning and transition to a smooth gray patina, particularly on the underside and high contact points. The barrel and magazine tube retain more consistent bluing with light surface scratches and minor handling marks. The bore was not inspected but the exterior suggests it has been well-maintained. The walnut stock and forend are in good condition, showing various dings, scratches, and minor compressions from use, though they remain structurally sound with no visible cracks. The aftermarket Pachmayr recoil pad is in good condition but is not original to the rifle. The action appears to function smoothly and correctly, though we have not function-tested this firearm.
