Description

This set consists of three heavy-duty industrial padlocks of Portuguese origin. Each padlock is manufactured from cast iron or steel with an oval body featuring a central raised vertical rib and large visible rivets. One lock shackle is stamped PORTUGAL on the forward curve, and all three locks are stamped with the initials PC on the reverse side of the shackles. Each padlock is attached to a length of heavy-gauge iron chain, with all three chains joined at a central circular steel ring. The design and construction are characteristic of utility or railroad security hardware from the early to mid-20th century. Keys are not included.
Dimensions: Not specified.

Condition report:

The lot exhibits a weathered industrial patina with varying levels of surface oxidation. Two of the padlocks and their associated chains show significant surface rust and pitting. The third padlock retains more of its original gray galvanized or painted finish, with oxidation primarily on the shackle. One shackle on the center lock shows a small notch or surface wear. The locking mechanisms are untested and may be seized; keys are missing.
