This lot consists of 57 rounds of collectible .30-40 Krag centerfire rifle ammunition, also known as .30 Army, manufactured by Winchester and Peters. The collection includes two original boxes of Winchester Super Speed ammunition and one box of Peters High Velocity ammunition. The Winchester cartridges are loaded with 150-grain pointed expanding bullets, and their case headstamps are verbatim transcribed with SUPER SPEED in the top arc and 30 ARMY in the bottom arc. The Peters ammunition features 180-grain inner-belted soft point bullets, with case headstamps bearing the markings PETERS in the top arc and 30 USG in the bottom arc. These smokeless cartridges are housed in vintage cardboard packaging that specifies their use in Winchester Model 95 and Krag-Jorgensen rifles. The boxes exhibit typical age-related shelf wear, including edge scuffing, minor structural tears, and light staining, but remain largely intact for display.
Condition report:
The ammunition is in varying states of preservation. One box of Winchester cartridges is in relatively clean condition with only light superficial tarnish. The second tray of Winchester rounds exhibits moderate corrosion and visible green verdigris on several cases and primers. The Peters ammunition shows heavy dark oxidation and significant tarnishing throughout the entire tray. All 57 rounds appear to be live. The cardboard boxes show standard shelf wear with some corner fraying and minor staining consistent with their age.
