Description
This lot consists of two United States military surplus metal ammunition and ordnance containers representing different eras of service. The first container is a Vietnam War-era proximity fuze can. It is constructed of olive drab steel and features white stenciled markings on the front face identifying it as a container for eight M728 proximity fuzes. The markings include N463, 8-FUZE PROXIMITY, M728, LOT RYB-3-4A, and a loading date of LOADED-9-69. This specific type of canister was utilized for the transport of artillery components during the late 1960s. The second container is a PA108 model ammunition can from the Global War on Terrorism (GWOT) era. It is constructed of olive drab steel with yellow stenciled markings on the front: 800 CRTG 5.56MM, BLANK M200, M27 LINK, and lot number LC-05D916-490. The LC designation indicates production at the Lake City Army Ammunition Plant. The side of the can is embossed with PA108, the manufacturer mark S.C.F, and the year code 04. This can was designed to hold linked 5.56mm blank ammunition for use in light machine guns such as the M249 SAW. Both containers feature hinged lids, top-mounted carry handles, and side-locking latches.
Condition report:
The Vietnam War-era fuze container is in good vintage condition, exhibiting typical field wear including surface scratches, localized paint loss, and areas of minor surface oxidation, primarily along the lid edges and corners. The latch and handle remain fully functional. The PA108 ammunition can is in very good condition with light field wear, including superficial scuffs and scratches to the painted surface. The yellow stenciling is highly legible and bright. The rubber gaskets and mechanical hardware are in good working order.
