Description
This Remington Model 17 is a 20-gauge pump-action shotgun featuring a 30-inch barrel based on John Browning’s patents. The firearm is equipped with a blued receiver and barrel, a walnut pistol-grip buttstock, and a ribbed wooden forend. The barrel is fitted with a single bead front sight and is choked full. Key markings include the manufacturer and model designation on the left side of the receiver, which reads Remington in script over TRADE MARK, MODEL 17, and the serial number 53645. The top of the barrel is stamped with REMINGTON ARMS CO., INC., REMINGTON ILION WORKS, ILION. / N.Y. MADE IN U.S.A. BROWNING’S PATENT JUNE 15, 1915. Further barrel markings include the matching serial number 53645, the choke designation FULL, and the date code characters P W. The shotgun utilizes a bottom ejection system and is finished with a ribbed black synthetic buttplate. Note – All firearms require a federal 4473 background check.
Condition report:
The shotgun retains a blued finish showing visible thinning and minor surface spotting on the receiver and barrel. The walnut stock and forend display various scratches, dings, and signs of handling consistent with moderate field use, including some finish loss near the receiver junction. The bore is bright with some light frosting. The action appears to function correctly when cycled manually, though we have not function-tested this firearm with live ammunition.
