Description
This lot consists of two metal ammunition storage cans, consistent in design with US military small arms ammunition boxes such as the M2 series. One container is finished in traditional olive drab green paint, while the other is finished in gray. Both cans feature a top-loading lid design secured by heavy-duty hinges at one end and a tension-latch closure mechanism at the opposite end. Each lid is equipped with a collapsible wire bail handle. A stamped marking reading S.C.F. is present on the lower front panel of both cans. On the green example, the characters are clearly defined and separated by periods; on the gray example, the stamping is faint and partially obscured by the finish. These markings likely represent a property mark for a specific facility, unit, or commercial entity. The cans are constructed of seamed steel with reinforced edges and were designed to provide a moisture-resistant seal for munitions storage.

The faintness of the stamped markings on the gray can suggests it may have been repainted during its service life. Both cans are structurally sound with functional latches and handles.
