Description
This single-item lot consists of one Iver Johnson Champion single-shot break-action shotgun chambered in .410 gauge featuring a 26 inch barrel. The barrel is constructed with a choke bore and specifies its manufacture with the top marking .410 GAUGE. CHOKE BORE BARREL AND LUG FORGED IN ONE – and includes patent information reading PAT. JUNE 15 15 PATS. PENDING. The receiver displays a mottled case-hardened finish and is marked on the left side with IVER JOHNSON’S ARMS & CYCLE WORKS FITCHBURG, MASS. U.S.A. CHAMPION. The serial number 90302A is clearly transcribed from the lower tang. The firearm is equipped with a smooth wood stock and forend showing a standard field configuration with a pistol grip. A simple brass bead front sight is mounted at the muzzle for aiming. The butt of the stock is fitted with a factory hard rubber buttplate featuring the Iver Johnson owl logo and name. The action appears to function correctly, though we have not function-tested this firearm. Note – All firearms require a federal 4473 background check.
Condition report:
The firearm is in good used condition with a blued finish on the barrel that shows thinning and a transition to a brown patina, along with scattered light surface oxidation. The receiver retains some visible case colors in protected areas while the balance has faded or thinned from handling. The wood stock and forend are solid and free of cracks, exhibiting numerous small dings, scratches, and handling marks consistent with its age. The bore appears generally bright with some light frosting and minor fouling. The hard rubber buttplate shows some wear and minor chipping at the edges but remains intact.
