Description
This is a Glenfield Model 60 semi-automatic rimfire rifle manufactured by The Marlin Firearms Co. in North Haven, Connecticut. Chambered for .22 Long Rifle, the firearm features a 22 inch blued steel barrel with a full-length tubular magazine located underneath. The alloy receiver is grooved for standard rimfire scope mounts and houses a side-ejecting action with a manual bolt hold-open. The one-piece wood stock features a pistol grip and distinctive pressed checkering displaying squirrel and leaf motifs on the forend and wrist. It is fitted with a ramped front sight and an adjustable rear leaf sight, ending in a textured black synthetic buttplate. Barrel markings are transcribed as GLENFIELD MOD. 60 THE MARLIN FIREARMS CO. NORTH HAVEN, CONN. U.S.A. CAL. 22 L.R. ONLY with a JM proof mark visible on the right side of the barrel at the breech. The serial number 71520623 is clearly stamped on the left side of the receiver. Note – All firearms require a federal 4473 background check.
Condition report:
The metal components retain a fair amount of original bluing with visible wear, thinning, and light surface oxidation present on the barrel and the face of the bolt. The bore was not inspected. The action appears to function normally, although this firearm has not been function-tested. The wooden stock shows significant signs of use including various scratches, dings, and deep gouges. Most notably, there is a prominent deep scratch or possible stress crack across the wrist checkering on both sides. The synthetic buttplate and trigger guard show minor scuffing but remain structurally sound.
