Description
This lot features a collection of 125 rounds of Federal Gold Medal 28-gauge shotgun ammunition, distributed across five individual boxes containing 25 shells each. The exterior packaging identifies the contents as 2 3/4-inch shells intended for sporting clays, specified with a 3/4 oz. load of #8 1/2 shot and a 2-dram equivalent powder charge. However, internal inspection reveals that the included shells are marked for skeet use with #9 shot. These shells are constructed with red ribbed plastic hulls and brass heads. Prominent box markings include Federal, Gold Medal, and specific technical data for 28 Gauge, 8 1/2 Shot, and 3/4 Oz. Shot. Verbatim markings on the shells themselves include 9, 3/4 OZ, DRAM, and SKEET. The cardboard boxes serve as the original retail packaging and display various signs of age and storage.
Condition report:
The ammunition and packaging are in used condition. The cardboard boxes show visible shelf wear, scuffed corners, and minor staining. The brass heads of the shotgun shells exhibit noticeable surface oxidation and spotting throughout. The red plastic hulls remain intact without significant distortion or cracking. The ammunition appears to be live and functional, though we have not function-tested these specific rounds.
