Description
This is a Remington Model 241 Speedmaster semi-automatic takedown rifle chambered for .22 Short. This model, which succeeded the Model 24, features a 24 inch barrel and utilizes the John Browning bottom-ejection design. The left side of the receiver is roll-stamped THE SPEEDMASTER REG. U.S. PAT. OFF. MODEL 241 and Remington REG. U.S. PAT. OFF. 132036. The top of the barrel is marked REMINGTON ARMS CO., INC., ILION, N.Y. MADE IN U.S.A. BROWNING PAT. NO. 1,372,336 – 1,381,448 ALSO PAT. NO. 1,740,187 – 1,889,099 followed by 22 SHORT ONLY – SMOKELESS – GREASED. Additional proof marks LX and X are located on the left side of the barrel at the breech. The rifle is fitted with a smooth walnut buttstock and forend, featuring a loading port on the right side of the stock and a checkered metal buttplate marked Remington. It is equipped with a fixed blade front sight and an adjustable rear notch sight. The takedown mechanism allows the barrel and forend assembly to be separated from the receiver. It appears the inner magazine tube rod is missing as it is not present in the photographs. Note – All firearms require a federal 4473 background check.
Condition report:
The barrel and receiver retain a significant amount of the original blued finish with visible thinning on the high edges, scattered scratches, and small patches of surface oxidation. The walnut stock and forend show moderate wear including various dings, scratches, and finish loss consistent with field use, but remain structurally sound. The action appears to function correctly, and the takedown mechanism locks up tight. The bore was not inspected. The internal magazine tube rod is missing.
