Description
This auction lot features one Harrington & Richardson (H&R) Inc. Model 949 Forty Niner double-action revolver chambered for .22 Long Rifle. This model is designed with a Western-style aesthetic, utilizing a 5.5-inch barrel and a side-mounted manual ejector rod. The firearm features a blued finish on the frame and barrel, complemented by smooth walnut wood grips. The sighting system consists of a fixed front blade sight and a windage-adjustable rear notch sight. Verbatim markings on the left side of the barrel read FORTY NINER MODEL 949 over H&R INC. WORCESTER, MASS. The serial number Y 4185 is stamped on the bottom of the grip frame. The revolver utilizes a nine-shot capacity cylinder and a frame-mounted firing pin. Included with the lot is one tan nylon zippered soft case. Note – All firearms require a federal 4473 background check.
Condition report:
The revolver is in good condition, showing light signs of field use. The blued finish exhibits holster wear at the muzzle and on the leading edges of the cylinder and frame. There are minor surface scratches and handling marks present on the frame and cylinder. Light oxidation is visible on the front sight blade and the sides of the hammer. The smooth wood grips are well-preserved with minor dings and surface scratches. The bore is bright with strong rifling. The action appears to function correctly, with the hammer cocking and the cylinder rotating and locking into position as designed.
