Description
This lot consists of 23 centerfire rifle cartridges chambered in 8x57JR, a rimmed variant of the 8x57mm Mauser cartridge. The ammunition is loosely packaged in a clear plastic bag and comprises a mix of projectile configurations including round-nose soft-point bullets and pointed spitzer bullets. Markings on the cartridge bases identify the manufacturers as Norma and Sellier and Bellot. Specifically, several headstamps are marked verbatim with NORMA at the top and 8x57JR at the bottom, flanked by the letters Re. Other cartridges in the group are marked with S & B and 8x57JR. The brass cases exhibit a varied surface patina and oxidation consistent with age, while the lead tips of the round-nose projectiles show characteristic white lead oxide buildup.
Condition report:
The brass cartridge cases show age-related tarnishing and a darkened surface patina but no significant corrosion or deep pitting. The lead tips of several soft-point bullets exhibit visible white oxidation. The primers are unspent and intact, and the ammunition appears to be live.
