Description
This is a Thompson/Center Arms Hawken-style percussion muzzleloading rifle chambered in .50 caliber. The rifle is configured for sporting use and features a blued octagonal barrel and a case-hardened side-lock and hammer adorned with scroll engraving. It is fitted with a walnut stock featuring a cheekpiece on the left side and polished brass furniture throughout, including a crescent buttplate, a decorative patchbox on the right side of the butt, a double set trigger guard with a finger spur, a nose cap, and ramrod thimbles. The rifle is equipped with an adjustable rear notch sight, a blade front sight, and a ramrod stored beneath the barrel. Key markings include the manufacturer and model designation on the top-left flat of the barrel, which reads THOMPSON / CENTER ARMS / ROCHESTER, NEW HAMPSHIRE CAL 50, and the serial number 71644 stamped on the left side of the barrel near the breech. The action appears to function correctly, though it has not been live-fired. Note – As an antique or black powder firearm, this item does not require a background check.
Condition report:
The rifle is in very good overall condition. The blued finish on the octagonal barrel remains deep and consistent with only minor handling marks. The case hardening on the lock plate and hammer retains vibrant colors. The walnut stock is well-preserved with a high-gloss finish and very few minor surface dings. The brass furniture shows a light, attractive patina and some minor surface oxidation typical of age. The bore was not bore-scoped but appears well-maintained from the muzzle. The double set triggers and hammer action appear to function correctly.
