Description
This lot features a vintage Penn 940 Levelmatic baitcasting fishing reel accompanied by a Samsonite World Sport carrying pouch. The reel is constructed with a gold-anodized aluminum frame and side plates, complemented by chrome-plated metal accents and a dual-knob handle with black plastic grips. One side plate is marked with the text Penn 940 Levelmatic Ball Bearings in black lettering. The cast control knob is inscribed with the words Cast Control and directional arrows. The reel includes a level-wind mechanism and a star drag system, and it is currently spooled with green monofilament line. The blue synthetic fabric pouch features black trim and a circular brand patch on the front flap with a globe logo and the words Samsonite World Sport.
Condition report:
The reel exhibits significant signs of age and use. There is heavy oxidation and green verdigris corrosion visible on the reel foot and the lower crossbars. Pitting and surface wear are present on the chrome-plated components. The gold-anodized finish shows minor scuffs and edge wear. The fabric pouch shows general wear, surface staining, and some fading. The mechanical functionality of the reel has not been tested.
