Description
This is a single bolt action shotgun manufactured for Sears, Roebuck and Company under the J.C. Higgins brand, specifically the Model 101.25. Chambered for .410 bore, the firearm features a 24-inch barrel that accepts both 2 1/2 and 3-inch shells as indicated by the barrel markings. The shotgun is configured with an under-barrel tubular magazine and a smooth walnut-finished wood stock with a rounded forend. Prominent markings include the model designation J. C. HIGGINS-MODEL 101.25 over SEARS, ROEBUCK and COMPANY stamped on the barrel, along with the chambering specification 2 1/2 and 3 IN. SHELLS. The receiver is equipped with a manual sliding safety on the right side with the word SAFE and a directional arrow stamped into the metal. Sighting is provided by a single silver bead front sight at the muzzle, and the stock is finished with a black ribbed plastic buttplate secured by two screws. Note – All firearms require a federal 4473 background check.
Condition report:
The original blued finish exhibits significant and widespread surface oxidation, rust spotting, and areas of pitting along the length of the barrel and the exterior of the tubular magazine. The wood stock remains structurally sound but shows scattered scuffs, shallow scratches, and general handling wear. The bore was not inspected. The action appears to function correctly when cycled manually, though the firearm has not been function-tested with live ammunition. The plastic buttplate is intact with minor surface wear.
