Description
This lot features a single Remington Sportsman-58 semi-automatic shotgun chambered for 12 gauge 2 3/4 inch or shorter shells. The firearm is equipped with a 30 inch blued barrel featuring a fixed full choke and a single bead front sight. The blued receiver is decorated with roll-engraved scenes: the left side depicts ducks in a marsh while the right side shows hunting dogs and game birds. The furniture consists of a checkered wood stock and forend, with the pistol grip featuring a decorative cap with a dog motif and the butt fitted with a black synthetic buttplate. Verbatim markings on the right side of the receiver include Remington Sportsman-58 and the serial number 9470V. The barrel is marked 12 GA. FOR 2 3/4 OR SHORTER SHELLS and FULL, and bears the Remington proof mark REP within an oval. Additional barrel markings include REMINGTON ARMS CO. INC., ILION, N.Y. MADE IN U.S.A. PATENT NO’S 2,645,873 2,675,638 OTHERS PENDING. The synthetic buttplate is embossed with the Remington name. The action appears to function correctly, though the firearm has not been live-fired or function-tested. Note – All firearms require a federal 4473 background check.
Condition report:
The overall condition is fair to good. The blued finish on the barrel and receiver shows thinning, handling wear, and scattered areas of light surface oxidation, with some red surface markings present on the top of the receiver. The wood stock and forend exhibit numerous scratches, dings, and impressions consistent with field use; a small crack is visible at the top left of the forend near the receiver. The bore was not inspected. The action appears to function correctly but has not been tested for safety or mechanical reliability.
