Description
This lot consists of six metal Hercules smokeless powder canisters, four of which remain mostly full per provided information. The group includes four Bullseye Pistol Powder tins: one 11-ounce white and orange target design and three 11-ounce orange and black bullseye designs, one of which retains a red retailer sticker from H&T Sporting Goods of Longview, Texas. Also included is one 1-pound red, white, and blue tin of 2400 Smokeless Rifle Powder and one 16-ounce maroon and orange tin of Reloder 7 Smokeless Rifle Powder. Key markings include Hercules and Smokeless Powder across all containers, with specific branding for Bullseye, 2400, and Reloder 7. The white Bullseye tin is marked Net Wt. 11 Oz. Made in U.S.A. while the orange versions specify 11 Ounces (avdp.) Net Weight or Net Weight Ounces (Avoir.). The 2400 tin is labeled for small-capacity rifle cartridges and for reduced loads in larger capacity rifle cartridges, and the Reloder 7 tin notes it is designed for use only in certain center-fire rifle cartridges which are shown in the revised Hercules Smokeless Powder Guide. Condition report:
The tins exhibit various stages of age-related wear including surface oxidation on the metal lids and bases, localized scuffing to the lithographed finishes, and minor denting. Labels remain largely legible across all six items. Per provided information, four of the containers are mostly full of powder while the others are likely empty. The retailer sticker on one Bullseye tin remains securely adhered with some fading. The screw-on lids appear intact, though several show heavier surface corrosion and oxidation than others.
