Description
This collection consists of 3 vintage chrome-finished baitcasting reels, an original manufacturer box, and an instructional manual. The first reel is a Shakespeare 1920 Wondereel, marked Model GA. The second reel is a Shakespeare 1920 Wondereel, marked Model FK. The third reel is a Pflueger Trump, marked Trade Mark No. 1943, featuring an integrated anti-backlash adjustment dial on the side plate. Each reel is constructed from chrome-plated metal and features a level-wind mechanism, translucent yellowed plastic handle knobs, and spools made of white composite or metal. Several components are stamped Made in U.S.A. Patented.
The lot includes a vintage black and yellow cardboard box for a Bronson Spin King Casting Reel No. 700, produced by the Bronson Reel Company of Bronson, Michigan. Also present is a paper booklet titled Bronson Spinning Guide, featuring mid-century graphic illustrations of a fisherman.
Condition report:
The reels exhibit a range of vintage wear including surface scratches, pitting, and areas of oxidation and corrosion on the chrome-plated surfaces. The plastic handles show some discoloration consistent with age. The Bronson box shows significant shelf wear, including edge fraying, crushing, and surface paper loss. The instructional manual exhibits yellowing and minor foxing. The reels appear mechanically intact but have not been tested for functional performance.
