Description
This Remington Model 11 The Sportsman is a semi-automatic 12-gauge shotgun based on John Browning’s long-recoil design. It features a 27-inch barrel chambered for 2 3/4 inch or shorter shells, equipped with a muzzle-mounted Poly-Choke Deluxe adjustable choke system that allows for rapid selection of constrictions ranging from extra-full to slug. The metal surfaces feature a blued finish with roll-engraved game scenes on the receiver, depicting ducks over a marsh on the left side and a pheasant in tall grass on the right. Key markings include the manufacturer and patent info on the barrel which reads Remington Arms Co., Inc., Ilion, N.Y. Made in U.S.A. Browning’s U.S. Pats. 689,283-710,094-730,870-812,326 and 12 GA. for 2 3/4 or Shorter Shells. The left side of the receiver is marked Remington Reg. U.S. Pat. Off. above the serial number 437055, and the bolt is stamped The Sportsman. The firearm is fitted with a checkered walnut buttstock and forend, with the stock protected by a brown Pachmayr Slip-On rubber recoil pad. Note – All firearms require a federal 4473 background check.
Condition report:
The original blued finish shows significant thinning and wear consistent with field use, particularly along the high edges of the receiver and the length of the barrel. Scattered areas of light surface oxidation and minor freckling are present across the metal surfaces. The checkered walnut furniture shows numerous small dings, scratches, and impressions, but remains structurally sound with no visible cracks. The action appears to function correctly and cycles smoothly when manually operated. The Poly-Choke mechanism is intact and functions as intended.
