Description
This lot consists of 104 16-gauge shotgun shells housed in six period-correct cardboard boxes from several prominent American manufacturers. The collection includes two Remington boxes identified as Duck/Pheasant Load and Express Plastic with Kleanbore priming, two Winchester boxes designated as Ranger Mark 5 and Dove & Quail Load, one Peters High Velocity box, and one Sears, Roebuck and Co. Sportload box. Verbatim markings across the packaging include 25 Peters High Velocity Plastic Shotgun Shells Kleanbore Priming, Duck/Pheasant 25 Plastic Shotshells Remington, Winchester Ranger Mark 5 All New Plastic, and Winchester Western Dove & Quail Load Made in U.S.A. The ammunition within features a variety of plastic hulls, including red shells printed with Winchester Western Dove & Quail Load, green ribbed plastic hulls from Remington and Peters, and black ribbed hulls with copper-colored high brass bases marked with a silver number 6. These 2 3/4 inch shells are loaded with various shot sizes, predominantly number 6, 7 1/2, and 8 shot.
Condition report:
The cardboard boxes exhibit moderate to heavy shelf wear commensurate with age, including edge fraying, corner rounding, surface scuffing, and minor tearing. Some boxes show handwritten ink notations and original retail price stickers. The ammunition is in generally good condition; the plastic hulls remain intact and clear, while the brass and copper-colored bases show various stages of natural oxidation and patina. Primers appear clean without signs of significant corrosion. While the shells appear to be original factory loads, they are sold as collectibles for display or historical interest and have not been function-tested.
