Description
This is a sporterized bolt action rifle built on a Mauser Model 1898 receiver manufactured at the Oberndorf factory. The rifle features a blued barrel and receiver with a polished steel bolt and is chambered for a centerfire cartridge. The metalwork is mounted in a light-colored wooden sporter stock featuring a Monte Carlo cheekpiece and sling swivel studs. For sighting, the barrel is fitted with a ramped blade front sight, and the receiver has been drilled and tapped for the installation of a scope mount. The stock is finished with a black rubber Pachmayr recoil pad. Key markings include the manufacturer and date stamped on the receiver ring, WAFFENFABRIK MAUSER OBERNDORF A/N 1899. The left side of the receiver bears the serial number G.F. 20345, and the bolt handle knob is stamped with matching partial numbers 345. The recoil pad is marked Pachmayr GUN WORKS LOS ANGELES, CALIF. Note – All firearms require a federal 4473 background check.
Condition report:
The rifle is in good overall condition. The blued finish on the barrel and receiver shows typical thinning and wear, particularly at the muzzle and on the contact points of the bolt handle. The bolt body remains bright with some minor surface oxidation. The bore was not inspected. The bolt action appears to function smoothly, though we have not function-tested this firearm. The wooden stock is in good condition with scattered light handling marks, small dings, and surface scratches consistent with field use. The recoil pad remains pliable and well-fitted.
