Description
A trio of vintage metal containers manufactured by the Winchester-Western Division of Olin, designed for Ball Powder smokeless propellant. Each container originally featured a lithographed paper label identifying the specific propellant type. One container features a teal label for 680 center fire rifle loads, another features a magenta label for 630 center fire pistol, revolver, and rifle loads, and the third features a red label with a red plastic cap. The labels include the W-W logo and text identifying the manufacturer locations in New Haven, Connecticut, and East Alton, Illinois. Per user-provided information, these three containers collectively hold 2 pounds of powder. The containers are constructed of metal with a cone-shaped shoulder leading to a threaded neck.
Condition report:
The collection shows significant signs of age and long-term storage. There is heavy oxidation and surface rust present on the metal tops, bottoms, and necks of all three containers. The paper labels exhibit varying degrees of staining, discoloration, peeling, and paper loss. The red-labeled container displays the most substantial paper loss, with a large portion of the lithographed surface missing.
