Description
This lot consists of two US military M2A1 ammunition cans, which are the standard-issue containers for the storage and transport of .50 caliber small arms ammunition. Each container is constructed of heavy-duty steel with a classic olive drab green finish. The design features a top-mounted folding carry handle and a robust latching mechanism on one end. This latch is designed to compress a rubber gasket inside the lid to create a moisture-resistant and airtight seal.
The first can is embossed on one end with three rows of characters: 08 on the top row, M2A1 on the middle row, and S.C.F. on the bottom row. The second can features more worn embossing on one end, with characters appearing as 99 on the top row and S.C. on the bottom row. These containers are typical of post-Vietnam era through current military surplus.
Each measures 11 x 6 x 8 inches.

Condition report:
Both cans are in used military surplus condition. The surfaces show scattered scratches, paint wear, and small areas of oxidation and surface rust, particularly along the hinges, edges, and raised lettering. The latching mechanisms and carry handles remain intact and appear fully functional. One can has a small white inventory tag attached to the handle.
