Description
A pair of vintage conventional fishing reels manufactured by the Penn Fishing Tackle Mfg. Co. of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The first reel is a Penn Peer No. 309, featuring maroon bakelite side plates embossed with Penn No 309, Made in USA, Pat’d, and Penn Peer No. 309. It includes a white plastic handle knob and a mounting clamp with a foot stamped 99-66. The second reel is a Penn Surfmaster No. 200, featuring black bakelite side plates embossed with a surf-casting scene and text reading Penn No 200, Made in USA, Pat’d, and Penn Surfmaster. Both reels are constructed with chrome-plated metal frames and contain spools of monofilament line.
Condition report:
Both items show significant signs of age and heavy use, including extensive pitting and corrosion to the chrome-plated surfaces. Green verdigris is present on the brass components, and there is general surface wear, scratches, and grime throughout. Mechanical functionality has not been tested.
