Description
This lot consists of a collection of 84 12-gauge shotgun shells and hulls featuring a variety of loads and manufacturers, presented loose in a clear plastic container. The collection includes plastic hulls in multiple colors including red, blue, black, green, and orange, with most featuring brass-colored metal bases of varying heights. A significant portion of the lot appears to be spent hulls as evidenced by struck primers and open crimps, though some complete shells with intact star crimps are present. Manufacturers identified through headstamp markings include Winchester, Remington, Peters, Federal, and Fiocchi. Technical markings and load data are visible on many of the hulls, specifying 2 3/4 inch (70mm) lengths and loads such as 3 dram equivalent with 1 1/8 oz of 7 1/2 shot. Verbatim markings transcribed from the headstamps include WINCHESTER 12 GA, REMINGTON PETERS 12 GA, FEDERAL 12 GA, W-W 12 GA, and FIOCCHI ITALY 12. Additional hull markings include WINCHESTER SUPER-X 7 1/2, FEDERAL MONARK, PETERS, 2 3/4 – 70MM, and 3 DRAMS 1 1/8 – 7 1/2.
Condition report:
The collection shows overall light wear consistent with age and handling. The metal bases exhibit minor surface oxidation and typical discoloration, while the plastic hulls show some scuffing, accumulated dust, and minor fading to the printed text. Most items are fired hulls with struck primers and expanded mouth crimps. The few unfired shells appear to have intact factory crimps. No significant corrosion or structural damage to the cases was observed.
