Description
This lot consists of four bullet casting molds with attached handles, used for manufacturing lead projectiles for firearms. The group includes three double-cavity aluminum molds manufactured by Lee Precision and one single-cavity brass mold. The Lee molds feature aluminum blocks and steel sprue plates. One aluminum mold is marked .440 RB for casting .440 diameter round balls. A second aluminum mold is marked 90309, corresponding to a .30 caliber, 170-grain flat nose bullet. The third aluminum mold is marked 90442, designed for .38 or .357 caliber, 148-grain wadcutter bullets. The brass mold features heavy blocks stamped J 490 and 5380, typically used for casting .490 diameter round balls. All four tools are constructed with steel handle frames, steel sprue plates for trimming excess lead, and turned wooden grips secured with metal ferrules.
Condition report:
The items are in used, fair to good condition. Visible surface oxidation and light rust are present on the steel components, particularly the hinges and sprue plates. The aluminum and brass blocks show typical heat discoloration and signs of use but appear to be in sound condition. The wooden handles are all intact, showing some staining and wear consistent with age and shop use. The tools appear complete and in working order.
