Description
This is a vintage Imperial Japanese military holster crafted from russet-colored leather, specifically designed for use with a Type 14 Nambu semi-automatic pistol. The holster features the characteristic full-coverage clamshell top flap that secures to a brass metal stud on the main body. The interior includes a small stitched pocket positioned beneath the flap, traditionally used for housing a cleaning rod, and the exterior stitching pattern indicates an internal provision for a spare magazine. The reverse side of the holster is equipped with a wide leather belt loop and two brass wire attachment hooks for integration with a standard military field belt. While sometimes referred to contextually as a 38 holster in reference to contemporaneous equipment series, the dimensions and design are built for the 8mm Nambu handgun. No visible manufacturer marks, serial numbers, or kanji stamps were observed during inspection.
Condition report:
The holster is in good vintage condition, exhibiting a well-preserved russet leather finish with some surface scuffs, light scratches, and crazing, particularly at the flex points of the flap. The leather remains pliable and structurally stable. The stitching is intact and appears original throughout the construction. The brass stud and wire hangers show a darkened patina with some visible verdigris present around the metal hardware contact points. The interior shows moderate wear consistent with field use.
