Description
This is a Thompson/Center Arms New Englander percussion muzzleloading rifle chambered in .54 caliber designed for sporting use. The blued barrel features a profile that transitions from an octagonal section at the breech to a round profile toward the muzzle. The side-hammer percussion action is equipped with a case-hardened lock plate and hammer displaying decorative scroll engraving, complemented by adjustable double-set triggers. The straight walnut stock is fitted with a textured brown Pachmayr brand rubber recoil pad. Sighting is provided by a red fiber optic front blade and a Williams brand adjustable rear sight with green fiber optic elements. A black synthetic padded sling is attached via quick-detach swivels. Key markings include the manufacturer and caliber on the top barrel flat transcribed as THOMPSON / CENTER ARMS ROCHESTER, NEW HAMPSHIRE CAL 54 and the serial number 31623 located on the left side of the breech. The wooden ramrod is seated beneath the barrel but is broken at the muzzle end and missing its tip. Note – As an antique or black powder firearm, this item does not require a background check.
Condition report:
The blued barrel finish shows typical signs of use with light surface wear and minor oxidation concentrated around the percussion nipple and breech area. The case-hardened finish on the lock and hammer remains largely intact with good color. The walnut stock exhibits scattered minor dings and light scratches but no cracks or significant damage. The Pachmayr recoil pad shows light hardening from age. The action appears to function correctly, though we have not function-tested this firearm. The wooden ramrod is broken and requires replacement for full utility.
