Description
This lot features a Remington Woodmaster Model 740 semi-automatic rifle chambered in .30-06 Springfield. The firearm is constructed with a blued steel barrel and receiver, complemented by a walnut stock and forend. Prominent markings on the left side of the receiver include Remington positioned above the serial number 128589, with Woodmaster MODEL 740 inscribed toward the rear. The barrel’s left side is marked REMINGTON ARMS CO. INC., ILION, N.Y. MADE IN U.S.A. / PATENT NO. 2,473,373 OTHERS PENDING .30-06 SPRG. Various proof marks are present on the right side of the barrel near the receiver, and the left side bears the markings K T 46. The rifle is fitted with a Zeiss Terra 3X 3-9×42 variable power scope featuring a duplex reticle, mounted to the receiver. While the ramp front sight and rear sight base remain, the rear sight blade is missing. The configuration includes a detachable box magazine and a horizontal-grooved hard rubber buttplate marked Remington. Note – All firearms require a federal 4473 background check.
Condition report:
The rifle presents in used condition, showing signs of wear consistent with field use. The blued finish on the barrel and receiver exhibits thinning, particularly at the muzzle and across the top of the receiver, with some areas of surface pitting and light oxidation noted. The walnut furniture remains solid but shows numerous scratches, dings, and impressions throughout the finish. The bore is bright with well-defined rifling. The action appears to function correctly when cycled manually, though we have not function-tested this firearm. The rear sight blade is absent from its base.
