Description
This Harrington & Richardson Model 999 Sportsman is a top-break, double-action revolver chambered for .22 Long Rifle. It features a 6-inch barrel with a ventilated rib and a 9-shot fluted cylinder designed for automatic shell ejection upon opening. The firearm is constructed of blued steel and is equipped with a fixed front blade sight and a windage and elevation adjustable rear sight. The furniture consists of two-piece checkered walnut target-style grips with inset gold-tone H&R medallions. Key markings include the model designation SPORTSMAN on the left side of the barrel, and the frame is stamped 22 L.R. MODEL 999 MADE IN U.S.A. above the manufacturer name and address H&R INC. GARDNER, MASS. U.S.A. The serial number AX088273 is clearly marked on the bottom of the grip frame. This lot includes a fitted brown leather belt holster manufactured by Hunter. Condition report:
The blued steel finish shows minor thinning at the muzzle and on high edges, with some light scattered surface freckling visible on the frame and cylinder. The checkered wood grips remain in good overall condition with sharp texture, showing only minor handling marks and a few small dings. The bore was not inspected, though the cylinder chambers appear clean. The action appears to function correctly through the cycle, but the firearm has not been function-tested with live ammunition. The leather holster shows expected age-related wear, scuffing, and minor staining.
