Description
This auction lot consists of one Remington Model 552 Speedmaster semi-automatic rifle chambered for .22 Short, Long, and Long Rifle cartridges. This versatile rimfire rifle features a blued approximately 21-inch barrel fed by an under-barrel tubular magazine and a blued receiver. The furniture is composed of a checkered walnut stock and forend with a high-gloss finish, terminating in a black plastic Remington-branded buttplate. The firearm is equipped with a telescopic sight featuring flip-up lens covers and a drop-compensated reticle, identified by a D.O.A. 600 sticker on the ocular bell. While the factory front iron sight is present, the rear iron sight has been removed to accommodate the optic. Key markings include the model designation Remington Speedmaster MODEL 552 and serial number A1820734 engraved on the left side of the receiver. Barrel markings specify REMINGTON ARMS CO. INC. ILION, N.Y. MADE IN U.S.A. Remington and 22 SHORT, LONG AND LONG RIFLE. Visible proof and date codes on the barrel include REP in an oval and BC 87. Condition report:
The rifle is in very good overall condition. The blued finish on the barrel and receiver remains strong with only minor handling wear and light surface marks. The high-gloss walnut stock and forend are well-preserved, showing light handling marks and some minor scratches to the finish, primarily on the buttstock, while the checkering remains well-defined. The telescopic sight optics appear clear, and the lens covers are functional. The action appears to function correctly, though we have not function-tested this firearm. The bore is bright with strong rifling.
